Precision
During the SmartLipo procedure, fat is eliminated from problem areas with a laser that precisely targets the unwanted fat deposits. SmartLipo is different from traditional liposuction in that it uses a carefully calibrated laser to liquefy fat exactly where desired. The laser is placed via a small incision (about 1/4 inch) and it actually disrupts and melts the fat cells. The resulting oily, liquid substance is then removed through the same tiny incision in the skin with a small tube. The laser can also seal blood vessels as it treats the fat, so there is less swelling, bleeding and bruising than with traditional liposuction.
Patients in general see faster results with less bruising than traditional liposuction.
Comfort
Usually SmartLipo is offered in most centers with the only option of local anesthesia. Although this is a great option for most patients, sometimes a greater degree of comfort may be needed by some. For those people who prefer to not experience any of the procedure we offer the safety and control of Physician’s monitored anesthesia.

Am I a candidate for Smart Lipo?
In general, the ideal candidate:
- is in good health, exercises regularly, is within 25 lbs. of his or her ideal weight;
- has one or more areas of local body fat deposits that have responded poorly to diet and exercise; and
- is bothered by these fatty areas, and is motivated to get rid of them.

To be a good candidate for Smart Lipo , you should have realistic expectations about the procedure’s capabilities. And while Smart Lipo can improve your appearance and self-confidence, it won’t necessarily match your mental ideal, nor will it cause other people to act differently toward you.
